# Using FastsApp

## Writing

Enter sends and Shift+Enter breaks a line (swap them in Settings).
`*bold*`, `_italic_`, `~strike~`, and ```` ```monospace ```` ```` format
the way the phone does, and a message of nothing but emoji shows large.
Mentions in a group are written with `@`; the smiley opens emoji
(searchable), GIFs, and stickers, including the stickers used on the
phone.

Reply, react, edit, forward, and delete live in a message's right-click
menu, on the whole bubble. Editing your own message reuses the composer;
Escape backs out of anything.

## Attachments

Paste a picture, drop files on the window, or pick them with the
paperclip: they wait in a strip above the composer until you send, with
whatever you typed as the caption; Escape or the tile's cross puts one
back. Incoming attachments up to 64 MB fetch as they scroll into view
(or on a click, in Settings), with WhatsApp's blurred preview until then.
A file the servers have let go of is asked for again through the phone,
and only failing that does the bubble say so.

## Voice messages

They play in the bubble: the button, WhatsApp's own waveform to scrub
through, the time. The first play tells the sender, the way the phone
does. With nothing typed, the send button is a microphone: a red light,
the clock, and the sound as it comes in; Enter or the button sends,
Escape or the bin discards. Quiet takes are brought up to speaking volume
before they go out, and replying first quotes the message under the
recording.

## Copying

Any message text can be swept with the pointer and copied. A selection
across several messages copies the way the phone shares one:

## Chats

Search filters chats; `Alt+↑/↓` walks them without leaving the composer.
The chat menu (right-click a chat) pins, archives, and mutes, for eight
hours, a week, or for good, and the phone follows suit. A chat's header
opens its page: the picture, the number, and in groups every member.

## Notifications and the tray

Closing the window keeps FastsApp in the tray with the link up; the tray
icon or launching the app again brings the window back. Notifications
carry the chat's picture and open the chat when clicked; muted chats stay
quiet. Both behaviours have switches in Settings.

`Ctrl+/` lists every shortcut.
